The Division II

Confused looks were on the faces of the members of Section A Division 32. New faces were amongst them.

The small group from Division 12 felt uneasiness at the new surroundings and yet at the same time excitement. It was the feeling of an inquisitive child feeling the shock of static electricity for the first time; a hint of fear and curiosity.

"Like sheep to the slaughter," thought Agent JG. A phrase that he thought inappropriate but he could not feel apprehensive about being in a different division.

It was rare for different division to be working together much less be in the same headquarters. Each division were more of rivals than colleagues. It was difficult not to think otherwise.

The setting of the Division 32 breifing room was different from that of Division 12. Where Division 12 had their desks ligned up in rows, Division 32 had their desks arranged into work stations.

JG was relieved to have two of his Division 12 buddies with him, The Martian and Little Brother. At least he was not alone in the unknown.

The trio found empty seats on some of the workstations and waited for the arrival of the Divison 32 commander.

Division 12 had met the commander Division 32 before. Codename DML, he was quite the eccentric. Very unlike other commanders. He was a strict man of order and had his own system for almost everything.

JG recalled a past encounter with DML where one member of Division 12 gave falsified information that DML required. With stern eyes penetrating through his thick bifocals, DML gave the member a beating down.

"I hate three things the most in an agent. Number 1, I hate Dishonesty. Number 2, I hate Disrespect. Number 3, I hate Disregard for authority."

Triple D, mused JG, recalling the incident, a testament to the commander's acronymical way of thinking. And here we are, in the belly of the beast.

DML entered the briefing room and addressed the members of Division 32.

"I'm sure you all have noticed the new faces among us. They are from Division 12. Their commander is temporarly out of commission and it has been decided that they will join our division for the time being. Now, I will assign all of you into groups based on your talents and abilities."

Wasting no time, DML called out names of the members and assigned them to workstations.

Settling into his new Strike Team, or ST as DML would have put it, JG sat examining his team-mates. Before he could assess them one by one, DML came over and handed them a portfolio.

"Here is your TM." He left just as fast as he came.

"TM?" puzzled JG suddenly realizing he had said it out loud.

"Team Mission," answered the guy opposite JG.

"Right."

Opening the portfolio, JG could not help but notice the words written in the first page:
First Objective: Know your team.

Apt. JG thought. Suddenly his thoughts wandered. I wonder if Division 32 takes lunchbreak earlier too.
